With an educational background in business communication and multimedia writing, I aim to combine my analytical and creative-thinking skills to implement engaging, data-driven marketing campaigns. Interests

On my free time you can find me at the beach playing volleyball, at a cafe reading tech blogs, in bed watching HBO's Silicon Valley, or perhaps halfway across the world eating anything and everything I can get my hands on. Most recently, I spent my first month post-grad traveling across 10 countries in Europe--scroll up to view a video montage of my trip! All footage was filmed and edited by one of my travel mates.

Peer Advisor, Lead

Department of Communication | UCSB | 2016-2017

Being able to use my expertise to help other students through a client-facing role is how I found my passion for business consulting. Through phone, email, and in-person academic advising sessions, I assisted 1,500+ current and prospective Communication majors with schedule-planning, degree requirements, and progress checks. Outside the office, I also served as a departmental rep by providing info to students and families at events such as the Freshmen Major Fair and Spring Insight.

Guest Service Representative

Conference Services | UCSB | 2016

UCSB’s beachside campus is so beautiful that during the summer, the residence halls are sought out by conferees from all over the world. Working as a Guest Service Rep taught me top notch hospitality and customer service skills. From adolescent dance teams to cognitive neuroscientists, I had the pleasure helping countless of conferees whether it be checking them in and out of their room, updating their conference agenda, or shuttling them to and from the airport.

Marketing Intern

BizGenics Foundation | Honululu, HI | 2015

During this internship, I created a pitch deck for BizGenics’ flagship non-profit organization, Lemonade Alley–a lemonade stand business competition that teaches K-12 students entrepreneurship skills. The pitch deck was used to secure dozens of sponsors and partners. I participated in my first business meeting in which Jamba Juice agreed to feature three winning lemonade recipes at all 54 HI locations and donate a margin of the proceeds to charity.

Research

Undergraduate Researcher

Communication Honors Program | UCSB | 2016-2017

I was among seven students to complete The Comm Department’s Senior Honors Program in which I had the privilege of conducting a ten month long research study. My study was an experimental design that examined the effects of online advertisement’s integration level (native ad vs banner ad) and cognitive load on users’ brand awareness, brand attitude, and purchase intentions. I presented my findings at the colloquium and was awarded for my research contributions.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Gevirtz Graduate School of Education | UCSB | 2017

Under the supervision of Dr. Danielle Harlow, I helped coordinate UCSB’s second annual Maker Faire–an interactive initiative that encourages local youth to learn through collaboration, creation, and experimentation. Video data was collected on student-teacher engagement and was then thoroughly analyzed through a content analysis study to better understand the educational implications of  learning  by “making.”

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Media Neuroscience Lab | UCSB | 2015

I, along four team members, assisted Dr. Rene Weber and colleagues in conducting a content analysis that investigates a new approach for the automated, large-scale modeling of motivationally relevant narratives from online news sources. My responsibilities included developing and improving training procedures, conducting extensive media research, coding narratives from various news outlets, and proactively contributing new ideas for project direction in team meetings.

Community Involvement

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

-Winston Churchill

Through my involvement in the community, I was able to discover who I am, who I want to be, and where my true passions lie. Causes close to my heart include: preservation of ecological and biological diversity; empowering youth from underserved communities; and making quality education more accessible for all.
